Training and Development - Capital Works Project Procurement
Introduction
The programme offered by Ashcroft and Associates Ltd will assist personnel develop effective knowledge and skills in
relation to procurement strategies, contract law, tendering, and contract management, for the design and delivery of
capital works projects.
The programme, reflecting experience gained in the construction industry from design and construction management,
and formal dispute resolution, is designed to provide a comprehensive but practical understanding of the critical
elements within any capital works procurement process.
The programme recognises the following principles for achieving desired project outcomes:
- Successful delivery of capital works projects starts with an assessment of the best procurement strategy to
adopt - and that requires analysis of the organisation's capabilities and risk management strategies.
- Many disputes can be avoided by better attention to key elements within the tender and contract documentation.
- The contractual obligations arising from the tender process need to be recognised in order to properly
protect the principal.
- The difficulties of designing and applying supplier selection criteria must be mastered in order to get the
best outcomes.
- Awarding the contract is only the starting point - effective performance requires appropriate management.
- Strategies to recognise potential for disputes, and to actively avoid them, provide great benefits in terms
of productivity, relationships, and stress.
This programme covers all of the above areas, and is practically orientated with interactive workshops and
exercises providing an effective learning opportunity.
