The programme offered by Ashcroft and Associates Ltd will assist personnel develop critical knowledge and skills necessary for effective risk
management.
The programme recognises that personnel responsible for delivery outcomes in an environment where risk is non-trivial must have the following
competencies:
- A real understanding of risk.
- A practical understanding of an established risk management framework.
- The ability to effectively apply established generic risk management tools.
- The discipline to ensure the process gets real and ongoing focus.
Key Learning Outcomes
The key learning outcomes include:
- A practical understanding of the risk management framework defined in ISO 31000: Risk Management.
- A practical understanding of the risk management processes defined in ISO 31000: Risk Management.
- Developed skills in the use of established risk management tools.
Programme Structure
There are two options offered.
The first is a half-day workshop which addresses the learning objectives through delivery and workshops covering the following modules:
- Risk and risk management concepts
- Establishing the context for risk management
- Risk identification processes
- Risk analysis techniques
- Risk evaluation processes
- Identifying and evaluating risk treatment options
- Developing risk treatment plans
- Monitoring and controlling the implemented risk treatments
- Communication - including risk information and risk management reports
Using a standard case study, participants will develop real skills through exercises to apply key elements of the process.
The second option is designed for participants who work as a group, to develop project specific, or organisation specific, risk management
tools. The structured learning content is the same, but there is a further series of workshop for the development of key risk management tools
specific to the participants. The required focus will vary, but typical deliverables are specific risk identification processes, risk register
structures, risk analysis methodologies, risk treatment plan documentation, and reporting formats. These can be applied to our case study, or,
more usefully, to customised scenarios.
